Thirty One Show Raises $1000 for Arts Education

In August of 2008, thirty one Portland artists were challenged to create thirty one paintings each in thirty one days. The resulting 961-piece extravaganza of affordable art was unveiled to the public at OM Tradition Arts in Portland - raising $1000 to benefit Artists for the Arts and its 2008 - 2009 granting season!

The room was packed to the rafters for this second-annual event (the first being the “Thirty Show”, of course!), organized by Portland-based painter and curator Flora S. Bowley. AFTA offers Flora - and each of the thirty one artists who gave of their time, talent and passion - our heartiest appreciation.

Will there be a Thirty Two show in 2009? Check out the Thirty Show website and stay tuned…

AFTA-FUNDED Aloha High School DIVERSITY WEEK PROJECT FEATURED ON FOX 12 OREGON

Funding from AFTA’s 2007 – 2008 Annual Grant Program helped film students from Aloha High School create a Diversity Week documentary for “Aloha TV” about the school’s ESL program.  Their work was featured on Fox 12 Oregon News! AFTA funds helped the school purchase equipment such as a video camera and microphones to film the production, as well for use in future film classes. Congratulations to the students, and instructor Matthew Fox, on this successful in-school arts project!
